"The
idea behind the sessions was to achieve good
shots, visually and dramatically, shots that
will show the elements of the action, the
drama, the suffering.
In
film an action is divided into its small parts
which are called takes, a scene is made of
many of these takes. From one to any
number. How many takes it depends on the intention
of the director.
We
were going to concentrate on four or so for
each scene.
Our
plan was to make a lineal sequence of the
simple process of scourging, nailing and hanging
on the cross".
